Maria:Unlocked Was Injured…

Hello, MantaChasm! I write to you today with a heavy heart; no, the baby is fine (and super healthy and awesome) but tragedy has struck another member of the household–Maria:Unlocked. I sat down to do some bench-marking on Sunday evening, thinking I’d install one of her new accessories first and take some glamour photos for the updated build post I was working on. Unfortunately the accessory was faulty, and when I went to turn her on it exploded and damaged one of the motherboard’s I/O panel USB ports. Her other components appear to be fine as Windows actually loaded after the explosion, but the motherboard is now stuck in a forced shutdown loop with the error “USB Over Current Detected”. I’ve scoured the internet for remedies but Maria suffers from the error with or without any USB devices plugged in, leading me to believe it is truly a port in the I/O cluster. There is no visible damage or charring and no broken pins or debris that could be causing the fault, so I’m at a loss. At this point I have two separate RMAs in: one for the motherboard and one for the accessory. I expect both will be inspected and replaced by the manufacturer.

That said, my video’s have taken an abrupt halt until I can get Maria sorted out. The smaller PSU in her old body probably won’t be able to support the 980Ti at full burst, so I doubt I can game on that machine as-is. Maybe this will just give me more time to write over here on mantachasm.online: who knows?

In other news I had a long conversation with one of my good friends who plays Space Engineers and spoke to him about the channel and a potential coop on the existing save. He says that come December (next month) his schedule will open up significantly and he would be very excited to play along with me. So that’s good news! We should have a partner in our videos around the same time Maria gets fixed. Wonderful!

I think my next step will be publishing the updated build post for Maria:Unlocked without the final images. This post will finish the journey of getting her from finished construction to successful boot and configuration, so we’ll just leave the updated images to the imagination until we can make them a reality.

Thank you all so much for hanging out and feel free to keep visiting the YouTube channel in the meanwhile. We have 5 subscribers now which is AMAZING and I thank you all for the support! I will have Maria back up and running soon or at least some sort of fill-in situation whether it be a temporary PC setup or just more posting here. Again thank you all so much for being here and I’ll see ya next time! Bye!
